The Grand Colombier by bike
Ingrid's pick
A hulk of a mountain lording over the upper Rhône Valley and the Bugey vineyards, the Grand Colombier (1,534 m) is the highest point in the Ain département. The panorama from the top takes in the three major Alpine lakes in one go: Lake Bourget, Lake Annecy and Lake Geneva! It holds its own with Mont Blanc, being less white in winter and much greener in the middle of summer. It wasn't until 2012 that the Tour de France dared come here for the first time!
